Every under-desk drawer, PC mount and rolling cabinet is sold as though the space beneath your desktop were free. It is not: two standards bodies publish minimum leg clearances that agree to within half an inch, and once you subtract them, the vertical budget left over is about two inches. Every drawer we recommend is four.

Under-desk drawers and PC mounts keep surfaces clear, but the space beneath a desk is not free — OSHA and BIFMA both specify a leg-clearance envelope of roughly 20 in wide, 17 in deep at the knee and 27 in high, which on a correctly set desk leaves only one to three inches of usable drop. Mount to the sides, not the middle.
Steel, walnut, and matte plastics sit well next to modern gear. Glossy office-supply plastic rarely does.
